14th Annual PoetryFest at Irish Arts Center

This year, we are pleased to be sponsoring the Irish Arts Center's 14th Annual PoetryFest, taking place December 1st through 3rd at their home in New York City's Midtown West neighborhood. Curated by Nick Laird, this series of events brings Irish and American poets, musicians, and more together for three days of readings and conversations.

Friday, December 1st, marks the date of the Favorite Irish Poems reading, in which poets and special guests join up to present beloved Irish verse. Laurie Anderson, David Byrne, Lucy Caldwell, Michelle Gallen, Michael Patrick MacDonald, Consul General Helena Nolan, and Dael Orlandersmith will read, along with seven festival poets and curator Nick Laird.

On Saturday, December 2nd, and Sunday, December 3rd, six free programs will occur in the afternoon and evening, featuring readings by festival poets Elisa Gonzalez, Tara Bergin, Timothy Donnelly, Sara Berkeley, Terrance Hayes, Mary Noonan, Tom Sleigh, Thomas McCarthy, and Sharon Olds. Plus, Sharon Olds and Thomas McCarthy will share their desert island poem choices in a discussion with Nick Laird.
