Film screening at Film and Video Poetry Symposium
We're delighted to announce that eight of our films will be screened at the 2024 Film and Video Poetry Symposium, taking place now in in Los Angeles, California, at the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art!
Adrian Brinkerhoff Poetry Night, film block 9 of the program, will take place on Friday, November 15th, at 7pm, featuring the following films:
- "Blind Boone's Blessings," read by Tyehimba Jess (dir. Matthew Thompson)
- "Brightening," read by Doireann Ní Ghríofa (dir. Thompson)
- "If 2017 Was a Poem Title," read by Mahogany Browne (dir. Thompson)
- "This is not a confessional poem" by Paula Meehan, read by Clare Dunne (dir. Thompson)
- "The Republic of Motherhood," read by Liz Berry (dir. Thompson)
- "Kumukanda" by Kayo Chingonyi, read by Paapa Essiedu (dir. Thompson)
- "Puertopia," read by Denice Frohman (dir. Thompson)
- "Chinatown Diptych," read by Jenny Xie (dir. Jean Coleman)
FVPS's screenings began on November 7 and conclude on November 27. This symposium represents the postponed 2021 screening and honors the community members who helped FVPS to relaunch with this powerful program.
