Loy Krathong

By Peter Halstead

On Nocturnes

Clouds that by evaporation grow
Like tiny prisms in the light
Of iridescent ivory glow
Like lanterns in the night,

Rainbows spread like harmonies
Trembling through the air
In strings, dripping down on sea’s
Soaring phosphorous veneer,

Remnants of the swap
That hazes take from ocean,
Shadows of the dropping sun
Blazing in the evening rain.
