The Secret of the Air

By Peter Halstead

Sky like silver,
Clearing bare.
Leaves long gone,
October there.

Moon near.
Then outside,
Smell of pear,
Leaves alive

In April air.
Noon sins
Kill sleep,
Scare the winds

Across the street
Of autumn;
Resurrection,
Pumpkins

Still to come,
Share
The pollen
With the sun.
