Treehouse

By Peter Halstead

Sixty feet up here
In the air
Birds take their places
On nubs of limbs,
Sawn to make spaces
For the Astro-turf lawn
On the roof where
Light rubs and races
Up the dawn,
And the airy day
Begins to leave
Breathless traces
In the canopies.
