Freddie Fox
Frederick Samson Robert Morice Fox is an English actor. He was born in Hammersmith, London, and raised in London and his family’s home in Dorset. Part of an eminent thespian family, Fox is the son of actors Joanna David and Edward Fox and brother to Emilia Fox, with uncles, cousins, grandparents, and a great-grandfather involved in the theater world.
Fox first appeared on screen at seven in a television adaptation of Rebecca. After training at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, his breakthrough role was as Marilyn in Worried About the Boy (2010), a Boy George biopic on the BBC. Notable television appearances include playing Freddie Baxter in the series Cucumber (2015) and Banana (2015), Detective Sargeant Wilbur Strauss in Year of the Rabbit (2019), Jeremy Bamber in White House Farm (2020), Mark Thatcher on The Crown (2020), and Ser Gwayne Hightower in House of the Dragon (2024). His film appearances include The Three Musketeers (2011), The Riot Club (2014), Pride (2014), Victor Frankenstein (2015), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), Black '47 (2018), Fanny Lye Deliver'd (2019), Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022), and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024).
An accomplished stage actor, Fox has performed as Simon Bliss in Hay Fever (2012) at the Noël Coward Theatre, as Lord Alfred "Bosie" Douglas in The Judas Kiss (2012–2013) at the Hampstead Theatre and in the West End, as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet (2015) at the Sheffield Crucible as well as in Kenneth Branagh's Garrick Theatre production (2016), as Lord Goring in An Ideal Husband (2018) at the Vaudeville Theatre, as Edmond Rostand in Edmond de Bergerac (2019) at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and as Hamlet in Hamlet (2022) at Guildford Shakespeare Company, among other roles. His performance as Tristan Tzara in Travesties at the Apollo Theatre earned him a nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
Fox directed, co-wrote, and co-produced the short Hero (2018), focusing on the friendship between a movie-loving child and an aging actor. He has also done voice work for animated series and video games and has performed widely on BBC Radio.
